The grants require applicants to provide a co-contribution at least equal to the grant amount and are open to private industry, First Nations businesses, farm foresters and state and territory government forestry bodies.

Matched funding of up to $2m per project.

This grant will cover up to 50% of eligible project costs up to $2 million, helping you to:  

  • generate carbon credits to provide an additional income stream  

  • access the multiple benefits of improved carbon management on your land or in your business

  • become a leader in sustainable farming and land management.

Successful applicants will need to share their learnings and help build capacity within the sector. This will help others understand the benefits, risks and costs of getting into the carbon market.

Eligible applicants include: farmers or agribusinesses, Aboriginal landholders/organisations including Traditional Owner groups, land councils, or Registered Native Title Body Corporate, not-for-profit organisations, government entities, community natural resource management/conservation organisations, peak bodies or industry organisations, producer associations, research institutes, co-operative/mutual organisations. 

Carbon service providers operating for profit are not eligible to be applicants. However, they may work with successful applicants to assist with their project or contribute as a partner.

  • Integrated environmental plantings are eligible to receive $2,000 per hectare (excl. GST) up to a total of $40,000 (excl. GST)

  • Farm forestry plantings are eligible to receive up to $4,000 per hectare (excl. GST) up to a total of $80,000 (excl. GST)

    The Victorian Trees on Farms Program (VToF) is a state government initiative assisting rural landowners to integrate trees into agricultural land.

    Funding for successful VToF project plans must be used to deliver trees in the ground. This can include any activities associated with planning, site preparation, planting, maintenance, reporting, and accounting for receipt and expenditure of grant funds.
